Our story

After more than a decade’s experience in construction and project management, James Meagher founded MAX Build in 2011 to carry out major structural repairs and refurbishments, tapping into his in-depth remedial knowledge.

Intensely passionate and driven, James was armed with a vision to make an impact in remedial construction. He soon was joined by his sister, Caroline McConnachie, to support the business function. From their different perspectives they both observed an industry where technology uptake, processes and quality control were weak, and a general unwillingness to work in with residents was prevalent. Remedial sites often appeared to be a battleground between builders and residents with clashing demands.

They knew there was another way and persisted in realising their collective vision. They built a company that celebrates outstanding workmanship, is highly transparent and open-minded. They wanted to instil their own sense of family in the workplace culture. They wanted diversity. And they wanted it to be fun.

Today, MAX Build employs over 40 staff, is ISO 9001, ISO 14001 & ISO 4801 certified and eligible to carry out residential works to the value of $28 million. The company has earned the reputation of Sydney’s most trusted provider of major remediation works in inhabited residential and commercial buildings.

To continue its upward trajectory the leadership team has steadily expanded, helping drive the next exciting chapter.
